Italian Mother Sauces- While Italian cuisine doesn't have a set of "mother sauces" in the same way as French cuisine, there are foundational sauces that are essential for a wide range of dishes. These include tomato sauce, pesto, béchamel (called besciamella in Italian), and ragu.
