SUMMARY:Historic Canobie Lake Wooden Flag Raffle
DESCRIPTION:Win a Piece of New Hampshire History!\n\n\n\nThis isn't just an American flag\; it's a piece of history that spent decades beneath the waters of Canobie Lake!\n\n\n\nWe're excited to raffle off this handcrafted wooden American flag\, made from historic timber salvaged from Canobie Lake and generously donated by our member\, Al Letizio\, Jr. of A.J. Letizio Sales & Marketing Inc.\n\n\n\nA Flag With a Story\n\n\n\nFollowing the devastating Great Hurricane of 1938\, nearly 2 million board feet of fallen New England timber needed to be salvaged. The federal government created a program to preserve the valuable lumber by storing it underwater at designated sites throughout the region.\n\n\n\nCanobie Lake was Site No. 28. Logs were marked "U.S." and intentionally submerged for future use. But when World War II changed priorities and the program ended\, much of that timber remained beneath the lake for decades.\n\n\n\nFast forward to 2018\, when the first historic logs were recovered from Canobie Lake\, some still proudly bearing their original "US" stamps.\n\n\n\nThat salvaged wood was eventually milled\, seasoned\, and handcrafted into beautiful wooden American flags\, giving a remarkable piece of New Hampshire history a whole new life.\n\n\n\nNow\, one of those flags could be yours!\n\n\n\nBuy your ticket and take a chance on owning a truly unique piece of history.\n\n\n\nThis raffle is conducted under a permit issued by the Salem NH Police Department.
