Winning Recipe to Be Featured at Salem T-Bones Next Week
SALEM, N.H. — The Salem High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center hosted an exciting culinary competition yesterday, where students showcased their creativity and skill by developing original soup recipes. The event brought together culinary innovation, community collaboration, and real-world experience for students.
Three distinguished community judges lent their expertise to the competition:
• Nicole Barreira, Director of Marketing & Menu Development at Great NH Restaurants
• Al Letizio, Jr., CEO and Co-founder of A.J. Letizio Sales & Marketing
• Robyn Sweeney Glickel, Manager of Recruitment Services at Sales Recruiters, Inc. and Chairman of the Southern NH Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
After careful tasting and deliberation, senior Emily Sawyer was awarded first place for her Hearty Baked Potato Soup. Emily’s winning recipe will be featured at Salem T-Bones next week, and she has also been invited to shadow for a day at a Great NH Restaurants location, gaining firsthand industry experience.
Second place went to Brodie Biros for his Southwest Corn Chowder, while third place was earned by Nicholas Wildes for his Savory Chicken Vegetable Soup. The top three winners received gift cards to Great NH Restaurants in recognition of their outstanding efforts.
All participating students have also been invited to attend the Southern NH Chamber of Commerce’s Taste of Southern NH event this coming May, where they will have the opportunity to engage with local business and hospitality leaders.
This year’s event was a true community collaboration, supported by the CTE TV and Media Production program, Salem School District Television, Salem Community Television, and the Southern NH Chamber of Commerce.
“Events like this are what CTE is all about—connecting students’ classroom learning to real-world experiences,” said Stacey Kallelis, Career Connected Learning Coordinator at SHS. “We’re grateful to our judges and partners for helping create such meaningful opportunities for our students.”
