Family Promise of Southern New Hampshire (FPSNH) announces the upcoming retirement of its longtime Executive Director, Pamela Wellman. Pam’s extraordinary tenure has not only transformed the organization but has also shaped New Hampshire’s broader response to family homelessness. Over a remarkable 40-year career dedicated to service, Pam has demonstrated exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to homelessness prevention, health and human services, mental health and developmental disability support, and nonprofit development at the local, regional, and national levels.
Raised in a family deeply committed to philanthropy, Pam brought to FPSNH a lifelong dedication to collaboration, innovation, and public service. Her leadership reflects a holistic understanding of homelessness, addressing it as a complex intersection of housing access, employment, mental health, and economic stability. Under her leadership, FPSNH has become a nationally recognized nonprofit and a trailblazer in housing solutions, serving Hillsborough and Western Rockingham Counties with a comprehensive blend of housing, case management, and prevention services.
During her tenure, Pam and her team have achieved numerous milestones, including:
- Leading the Building Home, Building Hope Capital Campaign, which resulted in the renovation of the former Infant Jesus School in Nashua into a facility providing up to 24 family housing units, which opened in early 2021.
- Securing a rare national HUD waiver—now used as a national model—to convert a group home in Derry into transitional housing.
- Partnering with a local business owner and the City of Manchester to secure the site for a new transitional housing facility scheduled to open in 2027.
- Strengthening Family Promise’s diversion and prevention programs, helping families avoid eviction and achieve housing stability before reaching crisis.
- Expanding housing capacity, diversifying funding streams, and significantly enhancing the impact of FPSNH on family self-sufficiency—all while operating without federal funding for operations.
Pam’s distinguished career also includes executive roles prior to joining Family Promise, such as Director of Development at Greater Nashua Mental Health, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The United Way, Community Health Charities, and American Diabetes Association. Her expertise includes strategic planning, governance, recruitment, fundraising, and nonprofit development. Pam leaves a lasting legacy with a transformative impact across non-profits in southern New Hampshire.

Her leadership has positioned Family Promise as a trusted community resource and a model for innovative housing solutions. Through her compassion, collaborative spirit, and results-driven approach, Pam has built enduring relationships with municipal leaders, benefactors, and volunteers that will support Family Promise’s mission for generations to come.”
Though Pam is stepping down as Executive Director, she will remain as the facilitator of the Manchester Capitol Campaign and Project, until its successful completion.
