Middle School Technology Teacher

Windham Academy is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Middle School Technology Teacher to teach students in grades 6–8. This role is focused on helping students become responsible, informed, and capable users of technology in an increasingly digital world.

The successful candidate will develop students' digital literacy skills while teaching responsible technology use, effective online research practices, media literacy, artificial intelligence (AI) literacy, digital citizenship, and other essential technology skills that prepare students for success in high school, college, and beyond.

The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students navigate today's digital landscape while fostering critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and responsible use of emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Teach technology courses to students in grades 6–8.

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons focused on digital literacy, digital citizenship, and technology fluency.

  • Teach students how to effectively and responsibly research information using credible sources and evidence-based practices.

  • Help students evaluate the reliability, accuracy, and bias of online information and media sources.

  • Provide instruction on the appropriate, ethical, and effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

  • Teach students how to utilize AI as a learning support while understanding its limitations, risks, and ethical considerations.

  • Foster responsible online behavior, internet safety, privacy awareness, and cybersecurity best practices.

  • Develop students' critical thinking skills as they navigate digital content and emerging technologies.

  • Integrate real-world technology applications, digital projects, presentations, and collaborative learning experiences.

  • Support students in developing productivity skills using educational technology platforms and digital tools.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support technology integration across content areas.

  • Assess student progress and provide timely feedback to students and families.

  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes responsible technology use.

  • Participate in professional development and school community activities.
